Somewhere in Between (Babbling)

Summer will end in a little more than a month. I have many things to do, especially the works and administration for the university. But still I feel bore. I don't know, maybe the works are not interesting, but I think its should be interesting, because they are new and I like all the topics. Anyway, I will be buried by the works that I have to do this summer.

I like summer, because it resemble the weather in Indonesia, or Jakarta for this matter. I like hot and humid weather. I'm not saying I never complain about the weather in jakarta (the heat, the sting from the sun, the sweat, the fumes from everything that vaporize by the sun, etc), but this kind of weather give me the thrill more than the other weathers like winter or spring. On the other side, this kind of weather make me miss my wife, family, home, friends, etc. Thinking what we can do in this kind of weather if I'm with my wife and others in Jakarta make me feel depressed.

So, here I am, living a life in Champaign Urbana, IL (study, work and party), without ever feelling content. I'm still thinking about "what if I'm in Jakarta" kind of thing. Hhhmm, maybe I'm not a traveller after all, like I always thought. It is like somewhere in between, like Jack Johnson's song (Better Together):

*And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they'll be gone,
When the morning light sings
And brings new things,
But tomorrow night you see
That they'll be gone too,
Too many things I have to do,
But if all of these dreams might find their way
Into my day to day scene
I'll be under the impression,
I was somewhere in-between
With only two,
Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do,
Or places we got to be
We'll sit beneath the mango tree now*

Well, like I said, I'm just babbling here, a take five from my everyday life in Champaign Urbana.

End

Hot News in July

Well for the last week, following the World Cup 2006 Final, there are two news that flood the mailist (This is the result of scanning and deleting a lot of email). First news is the Zidane butt-head attack to Materazzi, which made the referre had to give him red card. That news is even bigger than the news of Italian as the World Cup Champion for 2006. This year World Cup gave a lot of nice football games (Every World Cup, I'm always wondering when Indonesian Team will qualified for the World Cup). So, it is beautiful world cup, with the exception of a lot of cards produce in those games.

Second news is about Nadine English proficiency, hehehhehe. People just stormed her from any angle. Well, I tend to take her side, in the sense that she is a miss universe contestant. So, I don't care whether she can't speak english properly, or whether she is a whore for that matter, she is a miss universe from Indonesia, and I'm proud of her participation in the contest. I really hope she can win the crown (heheheh, just wistfull thinking, Miss Universe from Indonesia, that's cool huh, at least for one year the universe centered in Indonesia). So, I'm looking forward to watch the final in 23rd of July 2006, live from NBC. Go Indonesia!!! These support also goes for people who compete in the international level for Indonesia, I think there is science competition going on somewhere.

Other troubling news is the earthquake and Tsunami in West Java and Jakarta. Gosh, I thought after the great tsunami attack in Aceh and North Sumatera, people will try to put some warning system, or something. If we can't predict the earthquake, at least give us some warning or some information for natural disaster emergency activities, so people can prepare if, God forbid, natural disaster occur. Now, I try to find some warning or some possibility of earth quake, but I can only find from US Geological Survey and Thailand Natural Disaster Warning. The death toll at this time is more than 100. My pray goes with all the victims.

On the local news, I just got my cigarettes from Lele, hueheheh. That is good news. Oh I almost forgot, Welcome to Urbana-Champaign for Lele, hehhehehe. Have a nice life here.

NB: I hope nobody is annoyed with my english, because Nadine's discussion lower my confidence (heheheheh, minderan nih).
